Take Aways

You must have a browser that supports JavaScript in order for this function to work properly. A takeaway is a function that is created in a separate window such that when you leave the page where the takeaway is created, the function is available until you close the function's window. The most common of takeaways is the search engine. NOTE: if you do not have a JavaScript capable browser, see below.

Here's a takeaway of the popular search program Yahoo. This is not just a search function, it also provides links to some of the current day's news items.

Have you ever wondered who the people are who own those internet addresses like "AOL.COM" or some guy's name like "JIMGRAY.COM" (there really is one like that)? Well if your curiosity gets the best of you, you can look it up using the INTERNIC (Internet Network Information Center) which maintains the registration information for all those domain names. So let's have a little fun and look up this one name: JIMGRAY.COM. I've already entered the search information in the box below so just click on the link and wait for the takeaway window. Be patient, InterNic could be very busy and take a while.

Enter Domain Name to look up-- e.g. calcoast.com (Use only .com, .net, .org suffixes)

If you do not have a JavaScript capable browser and would like to make a search anyway, here is the link to InterNic's search page.
