My favorite works of art are created by a young artist named
Jessee, whose talents are appreciated by a rather small audience, his family.
He made his grandmother (the author of this page) a special picture of flowers
in a unique vase. It brings a smile to her face everytime she sees the framed
picture brightening the wall of her study. It's fresh, colorful, and reminds her
of a special time with Jessee sitting at the dining room table completely
absorbed in his work of art. He knows his grandma loves flowers so this picture is
just for her, and he's titled it "Sunflowers are Beautiful".
Do you know a grandparent, aunt or uncle who has a favorite young artist? If
so, you might think about asking that young artist to loan you one of his or her special
creations. All it takes is a good copy made at your local printshop, add a matte
and frame, and you'll have a great gift that will certainly be one of a kind!
Grandma's garden must include some wildlife, or course! I watched in fascination as
this alien bug developed on paper as Jessee drew. There are no limits in the imaginary
world of a six year old, the most amazing creatures exist there, and I'm very fond of
this little critter. Jessee says its name is "Octopus Alien".

Oh, oh, now Grandma's got a snake in her garden! Jessee learned how to draw animation
from a book about drawing. Notice the little "motion curves" around the snake's
tongue and rattlers? Grandma added the rest of the animation using Gif Animator.
Jessee is older now, and at age nine has drawn a new character named Leafen.
With directions from Jessee, his mother animated Leafen using Flash 4.
