Faith is the mandala for January and completes the series of 12 mandalas in the the Transformation Process I worked with last year. I "painted" each mandala using PhotoShop's paint bucket, during which I was thinking of that month's "power" and it's meaning in my life. The color associated with Faith is Blue, and it seemed appropriate to fill the background of this mandala with blue. After all, it is within the framework of faith that all life functions. As you move about your world, you have faith that gravity will keep you from drifting up into space. You go to sleep with complete faith that day will surely follow the night. This faith we take for granted, but what about faith in ourselves, our God, and others? The Faith process directs one to search inward for who you have faith in and why. For some, faith in a deity is important, while for others faith in oneself and the goodness in our fellow man is enough. |
So many things to have faith in, how can we know if what we cling to is right? To quote a wise man: "If a cherished faith in something/someone improves your life and contributes to the well-being of the world surrounding you, then that faith is probably worth keeping, but if close scrutiny reveals that it has instead created unnecessary conflict or degraded your life, it may be time to let it go."
To get a blank mandala ready to print and color using your imagination, along with the transformational process that accompanies it, see "Transformation: A Twelve Power Process Series" by new-age minister, Rev. Joyanna Freeland. For details about this Process and the other 11 powers processes in this series, visit Joyanna's website titled
"Transformation: A Twelve Power Process". To get the most out of coloring the mandalas, use the guidance for the process that accompanies the mandala for each month found on the above website.

Click here for a larger pic of my mandala for Love, appropriately associated with February. Its colors came easily as I used the little Photoshop paint bucket to fill bright passionate colors into the curving spaces. I recommend painting this one anytime you feel the need for creating more love in your life. Click the Transformation link below to get this mandala and its process. |

Click here for a larger pic of my mandala for Order, the power associated with March. This mandala looks completely chaotic before it's painted. Order appears as you fill in the colors - I began at the center and worked outward in layers of colors that felt right. At the end I had the feeling of order I desired. |

Click here for a larger pic of my mandala for Will. This is my rendition of the mandala for the Will Process, whose representative month is April. During April we see nature willing it's way into being - plant shoots pushing up through the ground, baby birds breaking out of their eggs, a whole cycle of growth and new beginnings. |

Click here for a larger pic of my mandala for Understanding. This is my rendition of the mandala for the Understanding Process, whose representative month is May. Gold illumination streaming outward felt right to me as I "painted" this. Letting understanding replace anger and hurt is a major step in the transformation process. |

Click here for a larger pic of my mandala for Imagination, which is the mandala for June. Sometimes the day-to-day grind of work can stifle one's creativity, as I felt mine had been, when I painted this mandala. The inner child yearns to be creative, and a simple exercise like
coloring a mandala, can release that creativity. |

Click here for a larger pic of July's Strength mandala. I felt drawn to greens and browns of nature as the source from which we get the ingredients for our strength. Sitting in or under majestic ancient trees creates an aura of timeless fortitude against the elements. This is the feeling of strength I tried to bring into this mandala. |

Click here for a larger pic of my Power mandala for August. I just returned from a vacation in the mountains of northern Washington State. When atop of these symbols of nature's majestic power, a sense of closeness to one's own source of power can be found. I used purple for power surging outward from the center, and protectively surrounded by colors of will, understanding and love against a background of strength. |

Click here for a larger version of the Wisdom mandala for September. Shades of yellows and gold emanating through the light-bulb shapes and radiating outward felt appropriate for this process. I painted this during the period of mourning following the horrors of September 11, 2001. Candles were being lit around the country, as a united nation tried to hold on to the light of faith and hope, while remembering those whose lifelights were extinguished in one awful morning. And we all prayed that our leaders would guide this country with wisdom. |

Click here for a larger version of the Zeal mandala for October. During this month of action and change, and the beginning of the "enduring freedom" campaign to defeat terrorism, I could almost feel the bright orange zeal flowing outward from the red-hot inspiration at its core. Like lava spilling out from the top of a volcano, zeal springs from the heart of America as it rallies to recover from the devastation of September. |

Click here for a larger version of the Renunciation mandala for November. As autumn leaves fall and return to become part of the brown earth, and trees divest themselves of old foliage to make way for new, it is appropriate for us to do the same. This is part of what the process for November is about - releasing that which is old and no longer useful to our growth, to be replaced with constructive habits and thought patterns. Americans had as a group so much pain and horror to release and let go of - then Thanksgiving helped us remember the many things we have to be thankful for - like the freedoms we so often take for granted. Freedom to dress, worship, learn and live as we choose. |

Click here for a larger version of the Life mandala for December. This mandala is for the winter holiday season when we are filled with thoughts of family and those we love. During this month we share gifts, travel to be with those we cherish, or share our home with honored guests. I received a wonderful quote for the Life power: "Life is rich indeed, and it is already yours. Focus on what you can do with it. Seek out ways in which you can make a real, substantial difference. Rather than worrying about what you don't have, make the highest and best use of what you do have. It has been enough to bring you this far. And the more you value what you have, the more useful it will be." |
The act of coloring seems to bring out the inner child, and when combined with the processes created by Rev. Joyanna, has the power to change thought patterns that may have kept a person imprisoned in old, ineffective life styles. These processes helped me years ago, and as I repeated them last year, I stil found them still as effective. Here again is the website:
