Using TELNET
on Surfari Internet


Introduction

You will need a SSH Telnet program to log into the SURFARI.NET server. If you just try to TELNET into the server you will not be connected and will receive an error message indicating this.

Many shareware/freeware SSH Telnet programs are available on the internet. Try a few of the links here to get a copy:

Getting Connected

  • When your start your SSH Telnet program it will ask you for a connection name or host name. You will want to type in surfari.net.

  • Your SSH Telnet program should then try to establish a login session with our server.

  • If you get a successful connection, you will be presented with a basic screen (similar to the old DOS C:\> prompt style) that looks like this:

  • In most cases you have a cursor flashing right in front of the login: waiting for your input as shown above.

  • Enter your Surfari Internet account name (i.e. jdoe). After typing it in, hit the (Enter or Return) key on your keyboard.
  • You will then be asked for a password from another "prompt" like this

    password:.

    Enter your current Surfari password for your account. After typing your password, hit the (Enter or Return) key. If you entered both your account name and password correctly, you will be 'logged' onto the Surfari Internet server and be presented with a menu something like this:

  • If you do not have this menu displayed, type in the word surfmenu and hit ENTER.
