Configuring FreePPP for the Internet

This will help you configure your FreePPP dialer to work on the Internet. FreePPP is the newest dialer application from Apple. It is also the most popular because of it easy setup process. If you are not sure if you have FreePPP you can locate it by Clicking the Apple icon and then Find File.... Once you find it click on Open FreePPP Setup...

If you have FreePPP correctly installed on your system then you can locate it on the menu bar at the top of your computer screen. If you click that icon a menu will scroll down. Click Open FreePPP Setup... on that menu.

This is the FreePPP Setup menu. Click the Open TCP/IP... button located at the bottom of the Setup menu.
You should see a menu like the one below:

Make all the correct changes as you see above. After you have made the correct changes close the menu box.
When you do this you will get a message that will ask you to Save or Cancel, choose Save.

You should now be back to the FreePPP Setup menu.

Surfari Internet should be listed in the box on the right which you will need to highlight.
After that, select Edit... The following menu should open:

Enter the access phone number for Surfari Internet in the Phone Number: field.

Enter you user name and password that you were given when you signed up with Surfari Internet, replace in the appropriate fields.
Now click the Connection tab at the top of the menu. The port speed should be set to 19200 if you have a 14400 baud modem, 38400 if you have a 28000 baud modem and 57600 if you have a 33600 or higher modem. Leave the Flow Control alone.

Now click the Options folder. The only thing you need in this folder is the IP address: which should have Assigned by PPP server selected.
Now click OK

You will now be back at the FreePPP Setup menu. Go ahead and close this menu.
Now Restart you computer.
After the computer has restarted, click the Phone icon on your menu bar.
A menu will scroll down, choose Open PPP Connection.... to connect to Surfari Internet.
Once you have connected you can start you Internet Broswer or your email programs.
